PocketStation (1999)
The PocketStation is a memory card with a screen and buttons for the Sony PlayStation. It has sound, a real time clock and infrared connectivity. It can also be used as a standard PlayStation memory card. The PocketStation software is included with certain game discs and can be downloaded to the PocketStation through the memory card port on a PlayStation console. Standalone software can be obtained from special PocketStation discs and again downloaded through the memory card port. The built in infrared can send save games to other units and can also be used for multiplayer games. The PocketStation was only sold in Japan and is now quite rare.
