Sega Saturn (1995)
Segas 32 Bit console was the Saturn; the Saturn used CD-ROMs instead of the older cartridge format. The Saturn also featured a cartridge slot on the top of the system behind the CD-ROM drive. The Saturns twin 32 Bit processors create brilliant 16 million colours and superb 3-D graphics. The Saturns games were also bigger and better since CDs hold a lot more than cartridges. The Saturns CD-ROM drive also supported Audio CDs because of the use of DSP (Digital Signal Processing). The Saturns main rival was Sonys first proper console the PlayStation. The Saturn was better than the PlayStation but the PlayStation was more popular. The Saturn could produce more Polygons than the PlayStation and supported 2-D and 3-D graphics, this made the Saturn technically better than the PlayStation. The Saturn also had more texture memory than the PlayStation. Due to poor marketing the Saturn never really found its true potential, whereas the PlayStation did.
